SILENT/SILENT+ Labels
Noise (i.e. unwanted audible sound) does not only negatively impact on the quality of life, it can also negatively impact a person´s health. In order to ensure the safety and health of individuals through noise pollution, legal requirements have been developed in the European Union and in Germany. The appendices of the German Regulation of Workplaces as well as in the Rules on accident prevention of the Professional Association VBG-B3 (Noise) point out that the sound level in
workplaces should be kept to the absolutely possible minimum. For this reason employers often try and purchase technical equipment that is very quiet. When making new purchases different, comparable products from a variety of manufacturers are scored on their acoustic emission levels. However, a comparison between the acoustic values is only really possible if the manufacturers´ information is based on the same measurements and descriptions.
Sound pressure level LpAm in decibel (dB) in accordance with ISO 9296
The measuring process should simulate the actual noise pollution experienced by the user. Health & Safety Officers in companies use this information to judge the acoustic stress levels of employees in their workplace.
Legal standards for sound pressure (in dB (A)) in Health & Safety reflect the maximum permissible stress levels in the human ear.
Sound pressure – as opposed to sound performance – is basically dependent on the environment and location. As IT products can contribute to acoustic stress levels in the workplace, it is also of interest to provide information on the sound pressure at the typical level of user distance from the product.

Systems with the SILENT Label are quiet. Intelligent fan systems and optionally available special insulation mats allow for a maximum in noise reduction.
Accustic– Emission (in accordance with ISO 9296) Sound pressure (LpAm) at 0.5 m distance and height of 1.2 m Idle mode: 23 up to < 28 dB(A)

Systems with the SILENT+ Label are particularly quiet. Intelligent fan systems and optionally available special insulation mats allow for a maximum in noise reduction.
Accoustic – Emission (in accordance with ISO 9296) Sound pressure (LpAm) at 0.5 m distance and height of 1.2 m Idle mode: 20 up to < 23 dB(A)
